Home Page INDIVIDUAL FOLLOW-UP COMMITTEE Possibility of a probationary period

The CSI must decide each year whether re-registration is appropriate. It may rule against re-registration if the progress of the work is deemed unsatisfactory due to the PhD student’s evident “professional inadequacy.” To provide objective evidence in such cases, a probationary period may be organised.

This period, typically lasting two months, involves producing and presenting the results of a set of tasks defined collaboratively by the thesis supervisor, the CSI, and the doctoral school. The purpose is to assist the CSI in making a well-informed decision on whether to authorise re-registration.

Find below a document illustrating the milestones across two standard timelines (with different start dates), including the potential for probationary periods.
